When you are on the move in the world’s most remote regions, communication is everything. When you need to be in touch and get your reports back on time, you need Nera WorldCommunicator. The Nera WorldCommunicator is a portable 64 kbps/ISDN bi-directional satellite modem used to receive and transfer information. The modem provides access to Internet, Intranet and LAN networks. Wherever you are located, you can operate on e-mail, send large data files of text, pictures or film, use video conferencing and make a phone call to anywhere on earth.

Compact and discreet

The Nera WorldCommunicator weighs just 4kg and is built of highly shock-absorbent poly-carbonate material. The entire terminal, including its antenna, fits easily into a discreet PC carrying case. Alternatively a dual case allows you to carry a complete system, including a laptop computer, as hand baggage on an aircraft. A rugged hard case is also available for rougher conditions. The powerful on-board Lithium-ion battery provides long life and recharges from most power sources including a car power socket.

The mobile communications solution

The Nera WorldCommunicator includes a built-in cordless phone base station that allows up to 12 cordless telephones to be connected, to form a cordless telephone network. In addition to the external line 5 of these cordless phones can be used simultaneously for free internal calls. The Nera WorldCommunicator can itself be used as a cordless local telephone network even when the antenna unit is not active. The base station has a range of approximately 300 metres, which makes the modem very flexible as a communications network between colleagues in the field. With voice over the Internet (IP telephony), you can send data and speak at the same time. In addition to the 64 kbps audio channel, a 4.8 kbps channel is available for lower cost voice service. The Nera WorldCommunicator connects via ISDN telephones, or analogue equipment via an external terminal adapter. The technology allows you to use all software applications you need for communications on your laptop. Now you can travel anywhere at any time with a lightweight office solution containing only two elements, the Nera WorldCommunicator and your laptop. Sending or receiving e-mails and faxes, video-conferencing and even telephone options are all included in a solution weighing no more than 6.5kg.

Easy set up

Configuration of Nera WorldCommunicator is easily done from your laptop using the RS232 connector and software found in the CD-ROM supplied with the terminal. The CD-ROM enables you to configure the modem for the different equipment you require (example: cordless phones, ISDN phones, video-conferencing units, etc.) and choose the data transfer quality needed. To transfer data you need an ISDN modem card for your PC, or an RS232 cable for use of the point to point protocol.
